Eco-Cedre Inc is the beneficiary of a long-term supply and forestry management contract
with the Quebec government. Therefore we enjoy the stability of log supply harvested
on Crown land. In addition, we purchase quality saw logs from a number of small private
operators who do selective cutting of their wood lots. Indeed, the trees to be harvested
are selected according to ecological aspects whereby selective cutting techniques avoid
wasting any timber.
Concerning the harvesting of white cedar on Crown land, we should like to stress that
we follow an elaborate planning process in conjunction with the beneficiaries of other
species and in cooperation with Forêt Québec.
To be more specific, we abide by a general 25 year plan, a five-year term plan as well as an annual plan.
These plans are carefully prepared, submitted to and sometimes modified
by Forêt Québec. There is also provision for public, third party consultation before
final approval is given.
There is always only one woodlands contractor operating per job site. He will harvest
the different species authorized and forward same to the respective beneficiaries.
